DAY 12 APRIL 7 SATURDAY AT SEA

The Manet finished loading just before midnight and headed to Napier at full speed in a calmer sea. There were a few bangs from the front during the night which we thought might have been floating containers from the RENA but were probably just big waves.

The noise of the motor and the wake behind the ship was massive. We walked twice around the ship (it's 450 metres once around) and studied the bracing on the containers and the refrigeration plants on most of the ones loaded in Tauranga.  The contain meat and fruit to be delivered all over the world.

                                               (please rotate; I forgot to)

We wer due at Napier at 4pm and arrived with plenty to spare.  But the port had had industrial and weather problems so was closed until the next day. We anchored in Hawke's Bay overnight.
