DAY 219 TUESDAY OCTOBER 30 DEVONPORT

We checked out of the Ibis as unhappy customers.  They had no spare rooms for tonight so we went to the Mercure in Cowper St and left our bags there.  The ferry wharf was just around the corner so we bought a tour ticket each for Devonport and had a nice trip across the harbour in a bright yellow ferry.

We asked why it had the name MUSTO on it and they told us it was the supplier of the motor.  Needs further investigation.

At Devonport we boarded a minibus and took a one hour tour.

 First up to North Head.

What a lovely day. We examined the fortifications.

Then to Mt Victoria where we got a magnificent view of the city.

More guns.

We spent time walking around the main streets, had a subway and a haircut for Malcolm then caught the ferry back.  A delightful little suburb, just like a country town, but 10 minutes across the water from the CBD.
