DAY 195 SATURDAY OCTOBER 6 SHIP MUSEUM

We climbed up the steps next to the hotel to have another look at Busan Tower.
There was a pair of Korean magpies here.  These ones have blue wings.
Everywhere in Asia we see tigers and dragons.  Good omen for 2013 grand final.
Lyn found a pop star to have a chat with.  Her name is Ji Woo Choi.  Anyone know her?

We paid $1 each to go into the ship model museum which had a fantastic collection.
There was a traditional Korean fishing boat.
The Esmerelda, pride of the Chilean Navy, visited Sydney in 1988.
Columbus' three ships, Nina, Pinta and Santa Maria.
Chinese Junk.
Mississippi Paddle Boat
Container Ship just like the one we board on Tuesday.
North Korean submarine caught spying.

From the base of the tower we can see our hotel.  It is the bright yellow one and the lowest window may be our room.  The Lotte building is the department store.
On the other side we had a view of suburban Busan.  Population 3.8 million.
We had a very nice morning tea in the Pagoda Cafe.  Had to try the Bushman Bread with cream cheese and jam for $1.40.
They had many old photos of Busan.  This one of Songdo Beach in 1954 shows it was well used then.
There was a free display of costumes next door.  The standout were these royals.
Every town seems to have its huge bell. But we never hear one.
Two young men were practising their drums
near a lovely floral clock.
To make it easy to get up here they have a series of escalators.  These pictures were taken from the first landing. One looking up and one looking back.

Back in the festival street we found a man making insects out of long grass or reeds.
After a siesta at the hotel, we set out o find a cheap Korean Restaurant.  Picked this one in a side street with a cheap menu.
We pointed to two pictures on the menu and hoped for the best.  Then a traymobile was brought to our table and we ended up with 18 pots, dishes, and containers on our table.
We were not sure where to start so the lady demonstrated how to mix, stir, taste, even spoon feeding Lyn.  Must have little kids.  We made a valiant effort to do justice to the spread and Malcolm found plenty of options without chili.  We showed our efforts to the lady as we left and she seemed satisfied that we had appreciated the meal.  This is what we left behind.

The cost was a worry as we thought we may have been given more than we asked for, but it worked out at $15 the lot.  We paid a lot more than that at the Korean restaurant in Strathfield.  Back to the festival where they were winding up with an auction of sporting equipment signed by local legends and an announcement of the totals raised for a couple of charities.
