DAY 49 SUNDAY MAY 13 NATIONAL RAIL MUSEUM

MUST COME BACK HERE NEXT WEEK
Another lovely day in York.  We walked around the town and tried shopping at Marks and Spencer.  Gradually learning the best places to shop here.  Came back to the flat for lunch, then timed ourselves on a walk to the station so we would get there by 6.15 am tomorrow.  Then we walked over to the National Rail Museum and spent an hour and a half looking at locomotives, including the only Shinkansen bullet train that exists outside of Japan.  We watched a loco do a 360 degree turn on an electric turntable. All this is free and we will be back again to see the rest.  Came home via the Museum Gardens and the city wall which we love walking on. Church bells have been ringing regularly today and yesterday. Packed bags for London before going to bed.
