got two tickets for the price of one by showing our National Rail tickets of the day. Spent ages strolling around the massive gardens, which were much more formal than Australian ones. There were gardeners everywhere. When we went inside we learned a lot about young Henry VIII and Cardinal Wolsey. Finished with a look at the Great Hall, which was set up for a royal feast, and Henry's bedroom. The ceilings were 60 feet high and the walls were covered in huge pictorial tapestries, still in good condition. Seems Henry was known for his hangings as much as his beheadings. Tried our maze solving technique which worked satisfactorily. Passed a teacher with a class of seven year olds trying to get out - is that not a nightmare? Passed on our method and hope it worked. Hopped on a river cruise boat for a three hour trip back to Westminster Pier, passing two locks on the way. Had a quick snooze on the way and arrived at Big Ben at 5.30pm ready to walk along the Thames bank for an hour in order to catch the overground train from London Bridge. We are still struggling to use our Oyster Cards correctly and to find the right platforms for our trains but by the time we go back to York we will have it under control.
The pictures have all been added to previous posts, so the Blog is now up to date officially.
