DAY 77 SUNDAY JUNE 10 THE NORTH COAST

During our full Irish breakfast we spoke with a young Brisbane couple on a three month tour of Europe. We talked about Aidan and his podiatry course in Brisbane.  Jamie Wallace asked us: "Does he work for Queensland Health from Mt Isa?" "Yes."  "My brother Peter is a Physio on that same team and he has told me about Aidan."  Very small world.  Ken and Pam picked us up and we walked across the Peace Bridge which symbolises the white peace strip on the Irish flag linking orange and green.

Then they took us to the Giant's Causeway, which was very busy with tourists, but very spectacular. We continued along the north coast stopping at a dozen or more beautiful spots  and seeing people walking along the Ulster Way which stretches 500 km around Ireland.  The weather was improving as the day moved on and there were plenty of people on the beaches which had nice looking yellow sand facing the North Atlantic.

WE MISSED THE WHITE CLIFFS OF DOVER BUT THESE CHALK ONES WERE GOOD

We took a car ferry across the Foyle mouth to County Donegal and found ourselves near the northern tip of Ireland which is actually in Southern Ireland (?).  We had a big dinner, as we had skipped lunch, in Leo's Cafe south of Derry, which seemed to be the cheapest cafe in the country. We drove around   Derry again and spotted this mural:

  1. Hahaha I got to work this morning and Pete says to me, "you will never guess who my brother ran into in Ireland the other day". Small world indeed.
