DAY 84 SUNDAY JUNE 17 CARDIFF CASTLE AND BAY

Watched the Rugby Union Test from Melbourne last night, but the commentators chose to speak in Welsh so that people like us might lose interest. It was a nailbiter and Wales were justifiably disappointed to lose after the 80 minute mark.

Today was more like we imagined summer in UK - sunny and 17C.  We had a sleep-in and left the hotel at 10.30.  Followed the Taff river past a food market to the Castle.  Walked all around it and looked at the ground plan but when we saw 15 pounds per person to look inside we chose to move on and subtract it from our laundry bill of yesterday.  Found a Greggs cafe for morning tea and a Subway for lunch, subtracting another 10 pounds from the laundry cost. We found the animal statues on the castle world fascinating. Then we followed the fast flowing river down to the bay along a quiet Taff Trail.  At the bay we found a hive of activity, with lots of families out to celebrate Fathers Day. It was very noisy because a water ski race was in progress.  Walked back to the hotel by 3pm for a siesta.
