DAY 79 TUESDAY JUNE 12 IRELAND'S BEST GARDEN

Today was a free day so we had time to explore Dublin.  We came across a plaque in honour of Sean Connelly and suspected that he might have been Joan Dorey's uncle. We needed to book on the ferry to Wales for Friday and once again found nowhere in town who would do it.  Finally had to do it on the computer. Ken told us we must go to Trinity College so we had a fine morning looking at the Long Room in the Library and the Book of Kells. However by lunchtime we were sick of waiting for traffic lights to turn green and mixing with thousands of buses an taxis so we hopped on a train to Wickelow and asked a super lady in the tourism centre for suggestions. We realised it was not feasible to get to Glendalough at 3pm but she suggested Mt Usher Gardens which were only six km away and a bus was due to leave.  We spent a very pleasant afternoon strolling through shady trails next to a fast flowing but shallow river with numerous landscaped rivulets running into it. We saw birds and flowers that were new to us.  They say it was made in the Robertsonian style. We got back to the hotel at nine pm.
